Parents and guardians

Thank you for joining our Parent-Teacher Evening

We are so grateful you joined us at last night’s Parent-Teacher Evening. It was a true pleasure to spend time together in such a welcoming setting beyond the school walls—sharing conversations, building connections, and formally introducing the dedicated team guiding your child’s learning journey.

Your presence, and the opportunity to meet our teachers, Board Chair, and Parent-Teacher Committee members, helped foster the spirit of partnership and community we deeply value.

Whether you were reconnecting with familiar faces or meeting someone new, we hope the evening offered a meaningful glimpse into the care, collaboration, and commitment that define our school culture. Thank you for being an essential part of it.

Well-being

Supporting mental health and well-being at ISSL

We are proud to share that St. Lucia has recently strengthened its commitment to mental health and well-being in schools. This national initiative recognizes that both students and teachers thrive when their emotional and social needs are supported alongside academic growth.

At ISSL, we are aligning with this vision by prioritizing wellness in our daily routines and creating opportunities for staff and students to access meaningful support. We are delighted to announce that our Wellness Coach, Ms. Delia Dolor, will be continuing with us this year. She will be on campus once a week, every Tuesday, offering workshops, guidance, and one-on-one support to help foster resilience, balance, and positive coping strategies.

These efforts, combined with island-wide initiatives, are aimed at building a school culture where every member of our community feels valued, supported, and equipped to succeed. Together, we are strengthening both academic achievement and the well-being of our entire school community.

Phones

Update on our phone collection process

We are pleased to share that our phone collection routine continues to run smoothly and safely. Each morning, students hand in their phones before classes begin, and they are returned at the end of the day as students leave campus.

Teachers have observed a noticeable improvement in punctuality and focus during lessons. Lunchtimes have become more vibrant, with students engaging in face-to-face conversations and enjoying one another’s company. Many families have even chosen to keep phones at home entirely, and students appear lighter and more at ease—free from the constant pull of notifications and social media.

Thank you for your ongoing support of this initiative. As always, please remember that students can access the school office at any time if they need to contact you during the day.

Reminders

Signing students out for early dismissal

Please be reminded that if you are picking your child up early from school, we ask that you come upstairs to the office and sign them out. For safety reasons, we will not be sending children downstairs to meet parents. This procedure ensures that all students are accounted for and that our dismissal records remain accurate.

Lunch

Please ensure that your child comes to school each day with snacks and a packed lunch, as we do not provide a lunch or snack program. Only our senior students in Grades 11 and 12 are permitted to leave the school grounds during break and lunch. These students are expected to remain within the designated areas—on the compound, at Massy’s grocery store, or at the nearby restaurant. Please note we do not allow Energy drinks at school. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and structured environment for all students.

Parent information night

Please save up any questions you may have to ask at our Parent information night. Grade 1–8: September 23 at the school, 5:00 pm start. Grade 9–12: September 24 at the school, 5:00 pm start.

Extra-Curriculars

Extra-Curricular activities will start Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Students who are not participating should be picked up at 2:30 pm on the balcony. There is no student supervision past 3:30 pm. If you would like to volunteer to lead an extra curricular activity from 2:30–3:30 p.m., please contact the office.

A note from the Principal

Closing note

We look forward to building a strong, connected school community with you! Thank you so much for your energy and commitment to our school. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Warm regards,

Sharon Knights
