Opportunities

STEM research and after-school programmes

(Please note that we are simply passing along the following information and do not have further details. For specific questions, please contact the program directly.)

Interested in exploring a STEM field beyond the classroom?

Applications are now open for the next cohort of the STEM Research Program, where ambitious students ages 10–18 explore a scientific topic they’re passionate about and turn that curiosity into an independent research project.

With guidance from researchers at MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and other leading institutions, you will: work 1-on-1 with a PhD mentor; dive into a STEM topic of your choice; develop an original research question; write your own research paper over 12 weeks.

Past areas of exploration include astrophysics, quantum mechanics, neuroscience, AI, robotics, game theory, genetic engineering, and many more. No need to know exactly what you want to study yet — the program is designed to help you discover it.

Apply here to be considered and receive more information: learnstem.org/student-application

Youth Accelerator After-School Programme

This programme runs Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rodney Heights and provides a safe, encouraging space for children to receive homework support, CPEA and CSEC support, STEM projects, team-building activities, reading and phonics support, and supervised learning.

Spaces are available, and we would be happy to welcome your child to the programme.

Around ISSL

Notices

Please start your visit at the office

We kindly ask that all parents/visitors begin their visit at the school office. Our receptionist, Ms. Joseph, will be happy to assist you and ensure you are directed appropriately. This process helps us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our students and staff by knowing who is on campus at all times. Please note that this reminder is also posted on the entrance door and at the front office for your convenience.

Signing students out for early dismissal

Please be reminded that if you are picking your child up early from school, we ask that you come upstairs to the office and sign them out. For safety reasons, we will not be sending children downstairs to meet parents. This procedure ensures that all students are accounted for and that our dismissal records remain accurate.

Prefects and Student Council

Senior Classes have had information shared with them. Prefect applications are due Friday September 11, 2026 with interviews starting the week of September 14, 2026. Student Council applications are due Monday September 14, 2026. Please encourage your son or daughter to be a Leader at ISSL.

Assignment procedures

We continue to focus on students developing responsibility and learning to respect deadlines. The following deadlines will be in place for student assignment completion for Semester One and Two.

Late policy 2026–2027 (opens in a new tab)

Morning entry

Students in grades 1-7 are asked to wait on the balcony for their teachers to arrive at school before going to their classrooms. Students grades 8 - 12 can go to their classrooms once they arrive at school.

Updating information

To help us maintain accurate records and ensure the safety of all students, please inform the school promptly of any changes to your child’s health or allergies. Keeping this information up to date allows us to provide the best possible care and support during the school day.

Lunch

Please ensure that your child comes to school each day with snacks and a packed lunch, as we do not provide a lunch or snack program. Only our senior students in Grades 11 and 12 are permitted to leave the school grounds during break and lunch. These students are expected to remain within the designated areas—on the compound, at Massy’s grocery store, or at the nearby restaurant. Please note we do not allow Energy drinks at school. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and structured environment for all students.

Parent information night

Please save up any questions you may have to ask at our Parent information night. Grade 1-8 - September 23 at the school, 5:00 pm start. Grade 9-12 - September 24 at the school, 5:00 pm start.

Extra-curriculars

Extra-Curricular activities will start Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Students who are not participating should be picked up at 2:30 pm on the balcony. There is no student supervision past 3:30 pm. If you would like to volunteer to lead an extra curricular activity from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. please contact the office.
