School Code of Conduct and Kiss and Ride Traffic Flow Management

Please note our School Code of Conduct applies to not only when you enter the school but when you are on school grounds including our Kiss and Ride drop off zone.

Please be mindful that Members of the School Community will: treat each other with kindness and respect. We are committed to providing a safe and respectful work and learning environment. The use of profanity, verbal or physical abuse, harassment or threatening behavior towards staff, students or other members of the school community is not permitted.

Student leaders

2026–2027 prefects and House captains

We are proud to announce that this year’s prefect team is made up of the following students: Joseph Dagbue, Leyla Guerra, Yuhao (Eric) Luo, Tewdews Auguste, Liliana Endraws, Mikaelah Bowen, Danielle Augustin, Christian St. Rose, Mia McGabe-Gill and Sanaa Menal.

All students and teachers have now been grouped into Houses—a vibrant initiative designed to foster school spirit, teamwork, and friendly competition. Our three Houses are the Blue Sharks, the Red Roosters, and the Green Geckos, each with its own unique energy and identity. At the first House meeting captains and co-captains were elected to lead their teams with pride and enthusiasm. These are as follows:

Red – Captain Mikaelah Bowen, Co-Captain Noah Dorville. Blue – Captain Leyla Guerra, Co-Captain Dakarai Deterville. Green – Captain Tewdews Auguste, Co-Captain Joseph Noel.

Students can earn points for their Houses in a variety of ways—by consistently following school rules, demonstrating our shared values, and participating enthusiastically in special events. Every positive action helps build House pride and brings us closer together as a school community.

Yale Young African Scholars applications open

Sent on behalf of the Yale Young African Scholars Program

We are excited to announce that the Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) application for our 2027 programs is now open!

As a reminder, Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) is a week-long academic enrichment and leadership program for secondary students from across the African continent. In 2027, we will offer two separate programs: a residential program in Rwanda in addition to an online program.

Here’s some information you need to know before applying: The YYAS Online College Prep Workshop will take place online from 15-20 July 2027. The YYAS Residential Leadership Summit will take place in Rwanda from 7-15 August 2027. There is no application fee to submit an application. Both programs are tuition free ($0). African secondary school students between the ages of 14-18 are eligible to apply. The application deadlines are 20 October 2026 (early action) and 20 January 2027 (regular decision).

YYAS Online College Prep Workshop will offer admission to ~240 students, and is open to students across all countries in Africa. To participate, students must be able to access Zoom on their own mobile phone, tablet, and/or computer with reliable internet for the duration of the program. The program will focus on career exploration, preparing for the university application process, and making the transition from secondary school to university. Given the limited duration of the program, YYAS has strict attendance expectations where students are unable to miss even one day of the program. Students who successfully finish the program will receive a pdf YYAS Certificate of Completion that can be added to college and university applications. The YYAS Workshop (online) is entirely free of charge.

YYAS Residential Leadership Summit will offer admission to ~110 students, and is open to students across all countries in Africa. Students will reside on a residential school campus in Rwanda for nine (9) days. The program will focus on the same college prep topics as the online workshop in addition to leadership, innovation, design, and 21st century skills. Given the limited duration of the program, YYAS has strict attendance expectations where students are unable to miss even one day of the program. Students who successfully finish the program will receive a pdf YYAS Certificate of Completion that can be added to college and university applications. The YYAS Summit is tuition-free ($0) and provides free housing, meals, and all academic curriculum materials.

Check out our website to learn how to apply and follow the directions to start your application. Feel free to share this opportunity with your students, children, peers, or others your network!

All our best, Yale Young African Scholars Program
